Ingredients

3 large onions, sliced into rings

1 cup self-rising flour

1 egg, beaten

½ cup milk

¼ cup water

1 tbsp vegetable oil

¾ tsp salt

Vegetable oil for deep-frying

Method:

  • Soak the onion rings in a bowl of ice water for 30 minutes; drain well.
  • Combine the flour, egg, milk, water, oil and salt in a bowl and mix well.
  • Dip each onion ring in the batter and fry in hot oil until golden brown.
